Roundtable is a European-based startup that is developing a platform to democratize the investment process. It aims to empower individuals and groups to finance innovative ventures, serving a diverse clientele including investment community leaders, fund managers, and venture capitalists.
Operating in the financial services market, Roundtable's business model is centered around streamlining the investment process. It takes on the time-consuming tasks of banking, legal, administration, and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, allowing its clients to focus on identifying lucrative investment opportunities. This not only saves clients a significant amount of time but also enables them to invest larger amounts more quickly and easily.
Roundtable also offers a unique service of setting up Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). An SPV is a subsidiary created by a parent company to isolate financial risk. It allows investors to access deals even with smaller ticket sizes, provides additional liquidity within the SPV, simplifies cap table management for the founder, and gives more bargaining power with venture capital funds in later funding rounds.
The company generates revenue through carried interest, a share of the profits made from an investment. This is calculated at the exit of the investment. For example, if an investor's stake is worth 1000 at exit and they initially invested 100, and the Deal Lead charged a 10% carried interest, the investor will pay 90 out of their profit.
